Bulletin report by Russell Bridge

President Rod opened the meeting at 7pm and welcomed Members and tonight’s guest speaker Neil Brindley.

Invocation: Bob Boord

Raffle Winner: Chris Roberts

President’s Report: Rod Taylor

Last week I have spent about 2 hours on the phone to Lotterywest , confirming all the details for the grant for the shed extensions. Our application will be considered at their next meeting , so I expect an answer by the end of the month.

I have been in contact with Renea Poot regarding their ideas of employing a grant writer , the future of the New Years Eve fire works and I did ask her for funds for the shed . I did advise her that we do not need a grant writer. She advised me that due to a lack of members attending their meetings , she is asking for a vote about the fireworks through the electronic media on survey monkey. As for the funds request ; she will ask her board again but does not think her club is interested. I advised her of our club change-overnight arrangements too , the Bay club can not decide yet on their change – over details.

Our next meeting will be at Teen Challenge. ( Gibson East road 40mins travel from town ) This will be a partners night, please be there at 6.30pm. Take your own drinks if required , importantly there is to be NO ALCOHOL taken. We must know numbers of attendees by 2pm Friday 20th. Teen Challenge is very interested in meeting us and exchanging ideas on the night. A good attendance would be appreciated please.

Brian Colliver has circulated an email with proposed Bus departure times from the shed for the night.

JB has asked for any photos from the last ten years and recently to be sent to himself or Louise Gray. He has formed a 60th Anniversary committee with Corrina Rawlinson , John Parsons, Kaj , Tom Campbell and Louise Gray with a date set for 05/11/2022 at the Deep Sea Angling Club 3pm start .

Guest Speaker – Neil Brindley.

Intro – Ken Warne

Neil gave a talk on his 56 working life with Wesfarmers after retiring recently in 2020.

It all started after finishing school with a position at head office in Perth and then had moves and promotions that took him around the state including Merredin , Narrogin , Katanning amongst others and finally settling here in Esperance in 1991.

He loved the Live stock trade and told many stories of his years doing this job . He described it as a way of life not a job .

He is now involved in the RFDS and fundraising for this an expanded on that as well as taking on senior roles at the Golf club .

The members had no problems hearing him and enjoyed his presentation.
